Problem
This technote describes an issue that happens when you have both floating license keys and Authorized User keys for different products. You will get an error message saying: "FLEXlm Error -18, License server does not support this feature"
Symptom
You will see a "Failed to check out a key for <Product>:" before the FLEXlm error message
Cause
This error happens because the license configuration of Floating license keys and Authorized User ones is different.
Floating keys need a license server to be served while authorized user keys are served locally and do not need a license server to run.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve this issue, follow these instructions:
- Open the License Key Administrator.
- Click Settings on the main menu.
4. Uncheck the box "Use license server"
5. Click OK to confirm the changes.
6. Run Rational Software.
The IBM Rational product should now start without error.
