Troubleshooting
Problem
Files with .tmp extension are being created in the Transformation Extender (TX) map output directory.
Symptom
Files with .tmp extension are being created in the TX map output directory.
Cause
When Transformation Extender (TX) creates an output file, a .tmp shadow file or temporary map work file is used to ensure transaction integrity.
Environment
Running a Transformation Extender (TX) map that creates output file(s).
Diagnosing The Problem
A file with .tmp file extension is created in the TX map output directory.
Example:
<output_path>/Mer_<map_name>_79671455647483_1.O1.tmp
Resolving The Problem
If the map completes successfully, the .tmp shadow file is renamed to the output file name.
If the map fails, the .tmp shadow file is deleted.
The use of the shadow file ensures that a launcher file watch or some other application, that is waiting for the output file, will not detect that output file until the map completes successfully.
