Failure to republish WebSphere Application Server application using Eclipse Mars

Troubleshooting

Problem

A secure WebSphere Application Server cannot republish an application on Mars SR1 using non-loose configuration (Run server with resources on Server). A server is set to non-loose configuration in the remote server case, and if the user chooses to enable the "Run server with resources on Server" option in the local server case.

Symptom

Modules fail to republish and a Problem Occurred error dialog is displayed with the following message:

The publish encountered some problems and the application may not have been installed or it may have been successfully installed but was unable to start.

Failure uploading archive to server:

Upload retry limit exceeded for file <workspace>\.metadata\.plugins\com.ibm.etools.wrd.websphere.core\tmp1449078835680\update.zip. Exception: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: com.ibm.jsse2.util.j: PKIX path building failed: java.security.cert.CertPathBuilderException: PKIXCertPathBuilderImpl could not build a valid CertPath.;
