Troubleshooting
Problem
Upgrading or reinstalling HMC code from Recovery media or USB fails always around 40-50%.
The on-screen messages end with an error screen showing "An error has occurred during the
install/upgrade. Return code: 45".

Symptom
Unable to install the HMC around 40-50%. Installation stalls with an error occurred during the install/upgrade.
Cause
Incorrect BMC date.
Environment
7063-CR1 Any Version or Release
Diagnosing The Problem
If user is remote in BMC: Go to Power Control -> Set Power ResetIf user is local, power off and on the HMCEnter the petitboot menu:
Select Exit to shellIn the shell run the following cmds:date
ipmitool sel time get
Example output:

The date in the output of one or both commands will be incorrect, often a day in January 1970.
Resolving The Problem
From the petitboot shell, use the date command to set the correct date and time, in UTC, using the format below.date -s YYYY.MM.DD-HH:MMExample command and output:
Then use the ipmitool command to set the sel time to the new date.ipmitool sel time set now
