"Failed to start Core Services: Failed to launch rpcss" when starting Optim

Troubleshooting


Problem

On unix platforms the following error is seen "Failed to start Core Services: Failed to launch rpcss." when starting Optim with the rtserver command.

Symptom

The full output when running rtserver is:

optim@myserver:> ./rtserver start

Seems that there are no applications running.
No display defined - don't clean xprops
Seems that there are no applications running.
No display defined - don't clean xprops
Core Services are not running.
Failed to start Core Services: Failed to launch rpcss.

The mwrpcss_event.log file (found in the user's .mw directory) may show one of the following errors:

RPCSS ServiceMain failed with 1702

RPCSS ServiceMain failed with 14 (0000000e)
Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.
