When booting into a multi-node configuration F2 diagnostics are not available during POST.
If booting the server into stand-alone mode, then F2 diagnostics are available.
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
- System x3950 E, type 8874, any model
- System x3950 E, type 8879, any model
- System x3950, type 8872, any model
- System x3950, type 8878, any model
- xSeries 460, type 8872, any model
- xSeries MXE-460, type 8874, any model

Additional information
Boot the server into stand-alone mode by pressing the ESC key during POST.
This is working as designed.
F2 diagnostics is based on DOS and does not have enough resource capability to run in a multi-node configuration.
To run F2 diagnostics, each server in a multi-node configuration must be booted into stand-alone mode.
