Troubleshooting
Problem
RPC program fails with EZA4339E RPC: Unknown protocol
Cause
A RPC program, such as the Network Database Server PORTC, receives failure message EZA4339E RPC: Unknown protocol
This occurs when getprotobyname() does not find the protocol in either /etc/protocol or hlq.ETC.PROTO. A sample protocol file is provided in /usr/lpp/tcpip/samples/protocol.
Resolving The Problem
Copy the sample file to /etc/protocol or hlq.ETC.PROTO to eliminate this message.
The protocols supported by RPC are UDP and TCP.
