Extracting multiple DOORS View Based Reports into a single Microsoft Word document using Telelogic DocExpress Word

Each individual Telelogic DocExpress Word View Based Report can have its individual Master Template assigned to it. When the individual Views are extracted, equal number of Microsoft Word documents would be generated.

However, there are instances where multiple Views need to be extracted into a single Microsoft Word document with a single Master Template assigned to all the individual View Based Reports.

In such instances, you can utilize the feature of Combined Reports to extract multiple View Based Reports while assigning a single Master Template to all the Views included in the Combined Report.

The following steps need to be performed:

1. Create the required Views in the DOORS module(s) or make a note of the View names that you would like to be extracted onto a single document.
   
   
2. Create a new Combined Report.
   From the DOORS Database Explorer menu bar, select DocExpress > Create/Edit Combined Report. The Combined Report Definition wizard dialog is displayed.
   
   
3. Select a Project in the browser where you wish to create a Combined Report.
   
   
4. To create a new Combined Report, select <New Combined Report> from the list and click Next.
   The Report Details wizard page is displayed.
   
   
5. Enter a name for the Combined Report.
   
   
6. To add a View Based Report to the Combined Report, click the Add button.
   A DOORS Database Browser dialog is opened.
   
   
7. Browse to a module(s) and baseline(s), select the Views to be included in the Combined Report and click Add. You can select multiple views before closing the dialog and click Next.
   
   
8. The Master Templates wizard page is displayed. Assign any Master Templates to the Combined Report as desired then click Next.
   The Combined Report Definition Wizard summary dialog is displayed.
   
   
9. Review the summary and once you are satisfied with the details of the Combined Report and click Finish.

1. From the Formal Module menu bar select DocExpress > Report > Run Report.
   A Combined Report can also be started from the DOORS Database Explorer menu bar, by selecting DocExpress > Combined Report > Run Combined Report.
   The Report Type wizard page is displayed.
   
   
2. Select Export a predefined Combined Report and click Next.
   The Choose a Combined Report Definition wizard page is displayed.
   
   
3. Use the browser to select the Project that contains the Combined Report that you wish to run. Then select the Combined Report from the list on the right hand side and click Next.
   The Choose Master Template wizard page is displayed.
   
   
4. Select a Master Template from the list of Master Templates assigned to this Module and click Next.
   
   
5. The Run-time Options wizard page is displayed. Choose the run-time options as desired and click on Next.
   
   
6. To run the report now, select Run report now and click Next.
   
   
7. Review the Report Summary to ensure that the options are as you desire, and click Finish.
