Exporting an Inspector file from the Inspector Tool

Question & Answer

Question

How can you Export an Inspector file from the Inspector Tool using IBM Rational Robot?

Cause

The object properties of the windows within the Microsoft Windows desktop can be exported and saved to an inspector file (file extension .inp). This inspector file can then be opened and viewed by the Inspector tool.

Answer

One way to investigate all object properties accurately is to get an export of the Inspector file (file extension .inp). This can be done by:

Rational Robot > Tools > Inspector > File > Evaluate All and Save

Note: If you choose "Save" instead of "Evaluate All and Save", then only the current active window's object properties will be saved, all other properties will be saved as "unknown".

The .inp file can then be opened by the Inspector tool and the evaluated object properties can be viewed by:

Rational Robot > Tools > Inspector > File > Open
