Symptoms

An excessive amount of single-bit errors are recorded in the system error log and the front panel error warning LED is on.

This only occurs with a certain memory configuration - 1x 256MB Hyundai DIMM with 1x 512MB Toshiba DIMM, or 1x128MB Hyundai DIMM with 1x512MB Toshiba DIMM, when the Toshiba DIMM is installed in J1 and the Hyundai DIMM is in J2.

Note: The Hyundai DIMM will be disabled as a result of the errors.

Affected configurations

The system is a Netfinity 5600 server, Type 8664, any Model.

The system is configured with one or more of the following memory options:

Solution

Move the Hyundai 256MB DIMM or the Hyundai 128MB DIMM to connector J4, and leave the Toshiba 512MB DIMM in J1.

Note: J1 is the memory connector furthest from the processor; J4 is the memory connector closest to the processor.
