An exception is thrown when open a AFP document in AFP viewer through IBM Content Navigator

Troubleshooting


Problem

User has an ICN desktop which contains one viewer map that only have application/afp mime type defined, however, when user open a AFP file, they will see the exception below:

The document cannot be opened.,explanation:No viewer is configured for documents of this type, or the configured viewer is not compatible with your system.,userResponse:Ask your system administrator to configure a viewer for documents of this type, and make sure the configured viewer works with the user's system.,adminResponse:Use the administration tool to configure a viewer for this type of document.

Diagnosing The Problem

If enable the ICN client debug, you may find the following activites:

From above, we can see ICN can not find the AFPViewer plugin as an ActiveX.

 

 

Resolving The Problem

Please follow the instruction below to install afpplgin.exe on the client where you use ICN. (Refer to before you begin section)
