Problem

User connects to Controller Web website. User logs on. An error appears.

Symptom

User authenticates:

com.ibm.cognos.fcm.wmc.base.exceptions.FatalException: Failed to authenticate: ADM

Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: The connection to the host MACHINE, named instance SQLEXPRESS,1433 failed. Error: "java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Receive timed out". Verify the server and instance names and check that no firewall is blocking UDP traffic to port 1434. For SQL Server 2005 or later, verify that the SQL Server Browser Service is running on the host. DSRA0010E: SQL State = 08S01, Error Code = 0
