Examples of Tendering Notification Rules

The following examples show various ways a carrier might set uptender notification rules:

  • Shipper A automatically assigns carrier PRO numbers to LTL shipmentsthat you deliver. You set up a rule to have the shipper send EDI 211transactions for LTL tenders.
  • Shipper B does not assign carrier PRO numbers to your LTL shipments. You set up a rule to have the shipper send EDI 204 transactions forLTL tenders.
  • You deliver very few truckload shipments for Shipper C. As a resultyou do not want to receive EDI tenders for truckload shipments. Inyour tender notification rule you set the Mode to Truckload andset Tender EDI to None. The shipper must tender truckload shipments to you online in SterlingTMS.
  • You do a lot of truckload business with Shipper D on the Westcoast but very little business on the East coast. You set up two differentrules for this shipper. For the West Coast shipping lane you wantto receive EDI 204 tenders. For the East coast shipping lane youwant the shipper to tender online in Sterling TMS.
  • You do not set up any tender notification rules for Shipper E.When Shipper E tenders a shipment Sterling TMS uses the defaultdata exchange settings you defined in Step 1 of Carrier Configuration.
  • Shipper F does very little business with your company. As a resultyou set Receive Shipment Tenders to No onthe Edit Shipper Relationship page. This shipper can email phoneor fax you to arrange for shipment tenders.
