Example: Searching by SID in Route Guide Inquiry

When you run a Route Guide Inquiry you can enter an SID numberto quickly search for lanes capable of taking that shipment.

In this example you have a recurring shipment that you deliverfrom your Chicago factory to your Baltimore warehouse. You want tocompare rates for different carriers that are eligible to take theshipment.

  1. In Execution you find SID 742370:
    • This is a covered shipment from Chicago to Baltimore.
    • The Mode is set to Truckload.
    • The shipment uses a 53-foot dry van.
    • The Movement Type is set to Interplant.
  2. On the Route Guide Inquiry tab you enter 742370 inthe SID field and click Submit.
  3. Sterling TMS displaysall contract lanes that match the shipment criteria:
    • The Origin of the lane is an area thatincludes Chicago. The Destination of the laneis an area that includes Baltimore.
    • The Mode is set to Truckload.
    • The lane supports 53-foot dryvans.
  4. The Movement Type is set to Interplant.
