Problem
The following technote should be used as a troubleshooting guide when a user receives errors taking a document offline or bringing a document back online using IBM® Rational® RequisitePro® RequisiteWeb.
Symptom
The following errors might occur when taking a document offline or bringing a document back online in RequisiteWeb.

Unable to open the document exclusively, another user may be working on the document.An Error has occurred:Unable to upload the document to temporary offline directory, please verify the permissions.Resolving The Problem
To resolve these errors, perform the following steps on the ReqWeb Server:

- Verify that your ReqWebUser user account is set up correctly according to the ReqWeb installation guide.
- Log into the machine as the ReqWebUser user.
- Make sure that ReqWebUser is running the ReqWeb Service.
- Open the document you are trying to take offline/bring online through Microsoft® Windows® Explorer.
- Verify that the ReqWebUser has Full control of the document and RequisitePro Project folder.
- Verify that the ReqWebUser can Open, Modify, and Close out of the document you want to bring offline/online.
- Check Task Manager and end task all requisitepro.exe and WINWORD.EXE.
Note: Make sure that all documents and projects have been saved and closed out first. - Delete the Normal.dot files as per TN# 1266272 .
- Apply the Fix a Corrupt Document solution found in TN # 1131072
