Question & Answer
Question
I'm trying to run a principal components or factor analysis in SPSS Modeler using the PCA/Factor node, but I get errors. If I use the default settings I get the following: There are fewer than two cases, at least one of the variables has zero variance, there is only one variable in the analysis, or correlation coefficients could not be computed for all pairs of variables. No further statistics will be computed. The analysis is being skipped. Expected matrix output will not occur. >Error # 5263. Command name: GET FILE >The specified input data file is neither an SPSS Statistics data file nor an >SPSS/PC+ data file. >Execution of this command stops. Realizing that this is perhaps due to missing data and the fact that the default settings use only complete cases, I click on the Expert tab and uncheck this box. I then get the following errors: Total Variance Explained(a) a. The matrix is not positive definite. This may be due to pairwise deletion of missing values. >Error # 5263. Command name: GET FILE >The specified input data file is neither an SPSS Statistics data file nor an >SPSS/PC+ data file. >Execution of this command stops. What does this mean and how can I get around the problem?
