Troubleshooting
Problem
User clicks "Company - Data Entry - Reported Values". User chooses parameters, and then clicks "Open" (to open the data entry form). User receives an error.
Symptom
Microsoft Excel
You are attempting to open a file type (Excel 95-97 Workbooks and Templates) that has been blocked by your File Block settings in the Trust Center.
This error occurs when you open a Microsoft Office file type blocked by File Block settings in the Trust Center. To enable this file type, do the following:
- Click the File tab.
- Under Help, click Options.
- Click Trust Center, and then click Trust Center Settings.
- In the Trust Center, click File Block Settings.
To save documents with this file type, disable the registry policy setting. For more information, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 922850.

Cause
Both of the following are true:
- The form has been created inside an older version of Excel
- The Excel File Block setting "Excel 95-97 Workbooks and Templates" has been enabled/ticked:
This disallows older Excel file types to be opened/saved.
Environment
Client device has Excel 2010 installed.
Resolving The Problem
Fix:
Update the forms' file type by running a process layout
- In other words, run a 'process layouts' on all forms. This will save the forms in the latest (Excel) file format.
Workaround:
Allow to open Excel 95-97 Workbooks and Templates in Excel 2010 Trust Center's File Block settings
Steps:
1. Launch Excel
2. Click "File - Options"
3. Click "Trust Center - Trust Center Settings...":
4. Untick the option "Excel 95-97 Workbooks and Templates":
