Symptom
|
|---|
When you attempt to connect to a secure sockets layer (SSL) Web site while using Netscape Navigator 6.0 or Netscape Communicator 6.0, you will not be able to view pages such as administrative forms, etc. See the following examples:
- https://<ip address>:1999
- https://<ip address>:8009
Any client who makes an SSL connection into an IBM eServer xSeries 135 appliance will have this problem if they run Netscape 6.0.
|
Affected configurations
|
|---|
The system is an IBM eServer xSeries 135, type 8654, any model server.
The system is configured with an IBM HTTP Server 1.3.12 Utility.
The TurboLinux version 6.05 server is affected.
|
Workaround
|
|---|
Complete the following steps to turn off TLS 1.0 in Netscape 6.0:
- Scroll to "Tasks", "Privacy and Security", and then "Security Manager".
-
When the "Personal Security Manager" appears, complete the following steps:
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click Options along the left side.
- Deselect the "EnableTLS" option.
- Close and restart Netscape 6.0, and then connect again.
|
Additional information
|
|---|
By default, the final release of Netscape 6.0 for Win32 has TLS support enabled.
Note: Transport layer security (TLS) is another security protocol like SSL. If you disable TLS, you will force the browser to use only the SSL protocol. The IBM HTTP server only supports SSL.
