Error using ITX 10 or 10.1 ODBC adapter with MS SQL Server - Message: String data, right truncation

Troubleshooting

Problem

Users may notice that the following error message is displayed in the database adapter trace when attempting to insert more than 8000 characters in columns of type either NVARCHAR(max) or VARBINARY(max) using IBM Transformation Extender 10.0 or 10.1.

Message: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server]String data,
right truncation

The data is not inserted, and the map fails, if it has been designed to do so.

Symptom

The database transaction fails, and if a database trace is enabled, it will contain an error message such as:

Message: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server]String data,
right truncation
