Error 'There is an error in XML document' when launching Controller

Troubleshooting


Problem

User launches Controller (for example, using a shortcut to URL: servername/cognos8/controllerbin/ccr.exe). The Controller client appears to launch. However, user receives an error message. If the user clicks 'OK', then they are presented with the normal logon screen (user / password / actuality / period). However, if they try to fill the username, then afterwards the user receives a second error message (identical to the first).
