Question

When you launch the installer for the Telelogic Logiscope Visual C++ .NET Integration with Visual Studio 2008 Express, you may see the Error in startup script - 0x800401f3 {Invalid class string} error.

Cause

The full error message is as follows:

This error occurs because the COM class VisualStudio.Solution is not installed with Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition.

Answer

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition is not a supported IDE for the integration with Telelogic Logiscope 6.5.

The supported IDEs are:

  • Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003 (Microsoft Development Environment 2003 Version 7.1.3088)
  • Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2005 (Microsoft Development Environment 2005 Version 8.0.50727.42)
