The error SLF4J: Failed to load class "org.slf4j.impl.StaticLoggerBinder" reported in IBM Content Navigator SystemErr.log

Troubleshooting


Problem

When we used IBM Content Navigator (ICN) 3.0.3, we found below errors reported in WAS SystemErr.log - ************ Start Display Current Environment ************ Log file started at: [1/29/18 12:08:26:033 HKT] ************* End Display Current Environment ************* [1/29/18 12:09:01:216 HKT] 00000054 SystemErr R SLF4J: Failed to load class "org.slf4j.impl.StaticLoggerBinder". [1/29/18 12:09:01:217 HKT] 00000054 SystemErr R SLF4J: Defaulting to no-operation (NOP) logger implementation [1/29/18 12:09:01:217 HKT] 00000054 SystemErr R SLF4J: See http://www.slf4j.org/codes.html#StaticLoggerBinder for further details.

Cause

The following jar files are not supposed to be there:

.../configure/explodedformat/navigator/WEB-INF/lib/jsr311-api-1.1.1.jar
.../configure/explodedformat/navigator/WEB-INF/lib/wink-1.2.1-incubating.jar

Resolving The Problem

Workaround

Step 1: Delete the following jars
.../configure/explodedformat/navigator/WEB-INF/lib/jsr311-api-1.1.1.jar
.../configure/explodedformat/navigator/WEB-INF/lib/wink-1.2.1-incubating.jar

Step 2: Run only the last two tasks in ICN Configuration and Deployment tool:
Build the Web Application
Deploy the Web Application

Fix

The related APAR number is IO26167. It will be fixed in ICN 3.0.3 IF003 and the future releases.
