Problem
Users might find that the Security Logon-event Scanner displays a "side-by-side configuration is incorrect" error and fails to run after being installed.
Symptom
The Logon-event Scanner software will not run after it is installed and shows an error like the following:

Windows could not start the IBM Security Logon-event Scanner service on Local Computer. Error 14001: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files(x86)\IBM\ibm security - windows logon-event scanner logonevents.exe".
Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6195" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.Cause
The Logon-event Scanner software requires Microsoft.VC80.CRT version 8.0.50727.6195 in order to run.
Resolving The Problem
Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update to add the 8.0.50727.6195 files to the server.
Important: When downloading the update, there is an option to select different versions of the update executable. Regardless of the architecture of your operating system, the Logon-event Scanner software requires the x86 version of this update. Ensure that you download and install the vcredist_x86.EXE file.
