Problem
Users might find that the Security Logon-event Scanner displays a "side-by-side configuration is incorrect" error and fails to run after being installed.
Symptom
The Logon-event Scanner software will not run after it is installed and shows an error like the following:
The Windows Application Event log shows an error like the following:
Windows could not start the IBM Security Logon-event Scanner service on Local Computer. Error 14001: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.The Windows Application Event log shows an error like the following:
Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files(x86)\IBM\ibm security - windows logon-event scanner logonevents.exe".
Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6195" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
