Problem

After updating IBM FileNet Application Engine 4.0.2 fp14 IF001, LA13 and LA14, opening the Search Designer applet now throws an error: 'attempted to open sandboxed jar'

Cause

IBM FileNet Application Engine Workplace jar files were updated and no longer work with java version 6.x.

Environment

IBM FileNet Application Engine Workplace.
Using the java applets from Workplace with jre 6.

Diagnosing The Problem

Enable on the client pc, in the java control panel, Show Console.

Resolving The Problem

Update the jre used by the internet browser to version 7 or higher.
In this particular instance to java 7u71.
