Error referencing a reserved word in SQL, when importing a ClearQuest schema

Troubleshooting


Problem

This technote explains how to resolve an error, "The name is a reserved word in SQL (or at least some dialects of SQL)". This can occur when importing a schema with IBM Rational ClearQuest.

Symptom

You encounter this problem when importing a schema using the cqload importschema command. Here is the full error message:

Starting importschema
*********************************************************

EntityDef "<RECORD TYPE>", FieldDef "<FIELD NAME>": the DB name of this object ("<FIELD NAME>") is invalid.
The name "<FIELD NAME>" is a reserved word in SQL (or at least some dialects of SQL).

*********************************************************
ERROR: importschema FAILED!
