Troubleshooting
Problem
The invscout command displays the error.
Symptom
The invs.err file shows the error as below.

Cause
This issue could be cause by the old_rootvg.
Environment
All AIX environment.
Diagnosing The Problem
Collect the truss output for the invscout command and verify the /usr/sbin/lsmcode command. If it is trying to display microcode level information for old_rootvg then that's the issue.
Resolving The Problem
To solve the issue, you need to run "alt_rootvg_op -X old_rootvg" to remove the entry for old_rootvg from the ODM. It will not destroy the old_rootvg disk so that you can set bootlist to the old_rootvg disk and reboot from it if necessary.
