Problem
In rare cases, the system may reboot with a Microsoft Windows "STOP 1E" error message. This affects systems that have Intel 'Tulsa' Xeon dual core processors with large 16 MB L3 cache.

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
- System x3800, type 8866, any model
- System x3850, type 8864, any model
- System x3950, type 8878, any model
- System x3950E, type 8879, any model
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:
- Intel Xeon Processor 7140N - 3.3 GHz 667 MHz 2x1 MB L2 and 16 MB L3 cache, option part number 40K1262
- Intel Xeon Processor 7150N - 3.5 GHz 667 MHz 2x1 MB L2 and 16 MB L3 cache, option part number 43V4553
The system is configured with at least one of the following:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, any service pack
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server, any service pack
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, any service pack
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server 64 Bit Limited Edition, any service pack

Systems with Intel Xeon Dual Core processors and large L3 cache have a very small risk of experiencing "STOP 1E" resets under all versions of Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.
IBM does not recommend installing Microsoft Windows 2000 Server on systems with Intel Xeon Dual Core processors (Tulsa) with large (16 MB) L3 cache.
