Question & Answer
Question
Upon receiving a Firmware Mismatch e-mail, how do you upgrade the firmware on the SPU?
Answer
After the replacement of a SPU, you may receive an event message that is similar to the following:
- 1 hwType=spu, hwId=1066, spaId=2, spaSlot=12, devSerial=548S091B11098, devHwRev=7.21470rA2.21091rB1, devFwRev=1.38, eventSource=System initiated, Firmware Mismatch on 09-23-08 09:55:40.
1. Use the nzinventory command to check if the SPU is a spare. For example, the hwId for the SPU is 1066 so you can grep the output for that specific SPU as follows:
- nzinventory | grep 1066
SPU 1066 Spare Online 2 12 10.0.2.12 115.04 GB
2. If the SPU is not a spare, contact Customer Support. If the SPU is a spare, run the following command to upgrade the SPU firmware:
- /nz/kit/sbin/flash/flashSPU -spa XX -slot YYY
For example:
- /nz/kit/sbin/flash/flashSPU -spa 2 -slot 12
This command can be run on any system with a system state of Online; there should be no impact to end users.
