Error: "Failed to find an app server" and web interface not accessible on Security Network Protection

Troubleshooting


Problem

You might find that the Local Management Interface (LMI) on the Security Network Protection (XGS) sensor isn't accessible and a "failed to find an app server" error message is seen in the logs.

Symptom

The LMI is no longer accessible and the following error is seen in /opt/IBM/HTTPServer/logs/was_plugin.log:

ERROR: ws_common: websphereGetStream: Failed to connect to app server on host 'localhost', OS err=111


ERROR: ws_common: websphereExecute: Failed to create the stream
ERROR: ws_common: websphereHandleRequest: Failed to execute the transaction to 'default_node_defaultServer0'on host 'localhost'; will try another one
ERROR: ws_common: websphereWriteRequestReadResponse: Failed to find an app server to handle this request
ERROR: ESI: getResponse: failed to get response: rc = 2
ERROR: ws_common: websphereHandleRequest: Failed to handle request
