ERROR: Failed condition or abnormal program termination

Troubleshooting


Problem

This technote explains how to resolve errors received when closing the IBM® Rational® ClearQuest® client. Closing the ClearQuest client could result an abnormal program termination error or Failed condition: m_ps->Release() error.

Symptom

Attempting to close the ClearQuest client in causes the error:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program files\Rational ClearQuest\ClearQuest.exe
abnormal program termination.

When using the ClearQuest Designer and performing a Test Work operation, you could receive the error:

Failed condition: m_ps->Release() == 0
Location: ClearQuest Core:vbentityext.cpp:279
Your original copy of this data is unaffected. Please correct the condition.
