Troubleshooting

Problem

You use IBM Installation Manager to install a product that is based on Eclipse. The installation directory contains Unicode characters. The installation fails.

Symptom

You enter C:\鷗㐀葛渚噓 for the installation directory and start the installation. The installation fails with the error:

Error during complete phase:
Eclipse reconciler returned with error status=-1

Cause

An Eclipse defect, tracked as bugzilla #282554, reports the issue of eclipse.ini paths that become corrupted when Unicode characters are written in the path.

Resolving The Problem

To workaround this issue, remove the Unicode characters from the installation directory path.
