Error: "Code 1" when SiteProtector Web Server service fails to start

Troubleshooting


Problem

When trying to start the SiteProtector Web Server service, it fails to start with "service-specific error code 1."

Symptom

On a system with the X-Press Update Server running 3.1.1 or higher, the SiteProtector Web Server service fails to start with the following message:

Windows could not start the SiteProtector Web Server on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vender, and refer to service-specific error code 1.

In Event Viewer under the System event logs, the following error is displayed:

Event ID 7024: The SiteProtector Web Server service terminated with the following service-specific error:
Incorrect function.


In the Application event logs, the following error is displayed:

Event ID 3299: The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> :/Program Files/ISS/SiteProtector/Application Server/webserver/IHS/modules/mod_iss_update.so into server: The specified module could not be found.
