"Error: cannot launch the agent, Java VM not initialized" while exporting a UML 2.1 XMI model.

Answer

The exact error message is as follows:
Error: no Java Runtime Lib JVM.dll found in PATH environment variable, please update PATH with '<Your Java Runtime Environment Directory>\bin' directory location
Error: if PATH environment variable is already configured, try to move '<Your Java Runtime Environment Directory>\bin' directory location to the beginning of PATH environment variable
Error: cannot launch the agent, Java VM not initialized
This error occurs if the Java runtime environment is not installed, or if the environment variable for the runtime environment is not set.

Follow the steps listed below to overcome the error:
  1. Download and Install Java runtime environment from the following link:
    http://www.java.com/en/
  2. If the jre is already installed, then set the PATH environment variable to point to the bin directory of the jre
    for example: "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin" (Refer to the attached path.jpg)
  3. Restart TAU
