Error BMXAA4144E - The Date/Time Format is Not Valid

Troubleshooting

Problem

You may receive a "The date/time format is not valid" error while trying to search for work orders based on the WORKORDER.REPORTDATE field on List tab.

Symptom

If you search workorders based on the WORKORDER.REPORTDATE field, on List tab you may get that error. BMXAA4144E - The date/time format is not valid

Steps to replicate :

1. Go to the Application Designer.

2. In the Application Designer, open the WOTRACK screen definition and make sure the WORKORDER.REPORTDATE is present on the List tab for that application definition.

3. Save changes.

4. Go to the Work Order Tracking application and on the List tab, enter the value 10/20/2013 00:00:00 AM for the Reported Date field. Attempt to search records by pressing the ENTER key.

5. You will receive following error :

BMXAA4144E - The date/time format is not valid.

This only happens for some specific dates and times, like 20/10/2013 or 19/10/2014 or 18/10/2015, etc... (It appears to be specific for dates when daylight savings time happens in South America).

Maximo displays an error when you try to search those specific dates, however this happens only when the time specified for that date is greater or equal to 00:00:00 and less than 01:00:00, which makes users believe this could be related to something like the daylight savings times in South American countries.

For example :

20/10/2013 02:22:00 ---> works fine
20/10/2013 00:15:11 ---> DOES NOT work
20/10/2013 00:00:00 ---> DOES NOT work
20/10/2013 01:00:00 ---> works fine
20/10/2013 00:59:59 ---> DOES NOT work
20/10/2013 04:11:00 ---> works fine

We suspect that a Date field in theory has no time but internally it is actually set to 12:00 midnight, and in some Latin American countries, the daylight savings time change which always happens in October, comes at midnight -- the time jumps from 11:59 to 1:00 am, so 12:00 midnight does not exist that day.

That's why it works for times greater than 00:59:59.
