Error -922 reported by buildsmi script and/or dbaccess

Troubleshooting


Problem

The Informix Server initialization can fail to build the sysmaster database because the underlying calls of dbaccess fail with error -922

Symptom

If you initialize the instance for the first time, the building of the sysmaster database can fail with following message in the Informix Server message log:

16:39:28  Building 'sysmaster' database ...
...
16:39:28  On-Line Mode
...
16:39:34  Error building 'sysmaster' database.
16:39:34  See '/tmp/buildsmi.9109652'.

And the '/tmp/buildsmi.9109652' file shows errors -922:

  922: Cannot get name of current working directory.
Error in line 28
Near character position 1

The same error is reported if you run the dbaccess utility from command line.
