Troubleshooting
Problem
Attempts to install IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook results in the error 'Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action'
Symptom

Cause
This error can occur if vbscript.dll has not been correctly registered in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Classes/CLSID/{B54F3741-5B07-11c
f-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}/InprocServer32 registry key.
This issue is known to be caused by McAfee anti-virus software, even after un-installing the McAfee client.
Environment
This issue can affect installations of IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook in x64 Windows environments.
Resolving The Problem
This issue can be resolved by manually editing a registry key, so that vbscript.dll is registered to the correct location. Please ensure you take a full backup of your system before continuing.
1. Using Regedit, navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Classes/CLSID/{B54F3741-5B07-11c
f-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}/InprocServer32
2. Right-click on the InprocServer32 folder, and click on 'Permission...'

3. Click the 'Advanced' button and, using the 'Owner' tab, set the local Administrators group as owner. Click OK to save your changes.

4. Edit the (Default) REG_SZ key, and set it's value to: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\vbscript.dll

5. Go back to the Permissions settings for the InprocServer32 folder, and change the Owner back to the NT Service/TrustedInstaller account.
In addition to this change, you should ensure that there are NO instances of the {B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8} key anywhere under HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Delete any instances of this key that exist under HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
