This customer product communiqué announces a change in the support status of the IBM® clustered Data ONTAP® 8.2.x release family. Data ONTAP 8.2.x (Data ONTAP operating in 7-Mode) is not affected by this announcement.
Customers running clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x on their IBM N-Series systems are urged to consider this information and take any necessary action. IBM remains committed to supporting the clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x release family; however, clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.4, currently available on the IBM Support site, is the last maintenance release of the clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x release family. Further, effective October 2016, feature policy-variance requests (RPQs) that are specific to the clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x release family will no longer be accepted.
Through July 31, 2017:
- New maintenance and patch releases on the clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x release family will be delivered only on an as-needed basis. Fixes for critical software issues that are found on N-Series systems that run clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x will be delivered only in:
- Patch derivatives of clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.4
- Interoperability testing with clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x and updates to the IBM Interoperability Matrix Tool, including SAN qualification RPQs, will continue.
After July 31, 2017:
- Requests for bug fixes on the clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x release family will no longer be accepted. Fixes for issues that are found on N-Series systems that run clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x will be delivered only in patch derivatives of Data ONTAP 8.3.x (Version not supported by IBM)
- Interoperability testing with clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x and updates to the IBM Interoperability Matrix Tool will stop.
- Manufacturing and SAN qualification RPQs that are specific to the clustered Data ONTAP 8.2.x release family will not be accepted.
