Problem
Encountering 'error while loading shared libraries: libnsl.so.1' using a new IBM Transformation Extender (ITX) Runtime and Monitoring installation.
Symptom
Encountering 'error while loading shared libraries: libnsl.so.1' using a new ITX Runtime and Monitoring installation.
Cause
libnsl.so.1 is not installed in Red Hat Linux release 8.0 by default.
Functions in this library provide routines that provide a transport-level interface to networking services for applications, facilities for machine-independent data representation, a remote procedure call mechanism, and other networking services useful for application programs.
Environment
Installing IBM Runtime and Monitoring on Red Hat Version 8.
Diagnosing The Problem
After a new installation the following error is encountered after running the ITX setup script and trying to run the ITX Command Server.
dtxcmdsv: error while loading shared libraries: libnsl.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Resolving The Problem
Install libnsl.
After successful installation, you can see /usr/lib64/libnsl.so.1.
