Problem(Abstract)
After propagating e-Marketing Spot and Web activity updates to your production environment using the stagingprop utility the updates do not take effect on the storefront even after refreshing the CampaignInitiativeCache registry (for WebSphere Commerce Version 6.0) or Marketing registry (for WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0).
Symptom
E-Marketing Spot and Web activity updates are propagated using the stagingprop utility. The e-Marketing Spot and Web activity updates do not display on the storefront after multiple attempts to refresh the CampaignInitiativeCache (V6) or Marketing registry (V7) using the Administration Console and multiple attempts to clear the cache. No errors are found in the logs. If the JVM is restarted the marketing updates appear on the storefront.
Cause
If you are using the Management Center Marketing tool there could be a problem with the configuration of marketing in the WebSphere Commerce configuration file (wc-server.xml). For Management Center the marketing version must be set to Dialog whereas for WebSphere Commerce Accelerator the marketing version must be set to Classic.
Resolving the problem
If you are using the Management Center Marketing tool:
1. Open the WebSphere Commerce configuration file (wc-server.xml) in a text editor.
2. Search for the following line:
<Marketing version="Classic"/>
3. Change the line to this:
<Marketing version="Dialog"/>
4. Deploy the file to your server.
5. Restart the server to pick up the changes.
