IBM Support

DSN Data Source after installing DB2 Runtime Client on Windows 7

Troubleshooting

Problem

"ODBC Data Source Administrator" will not add "System DSN" to the Data Sources. I also keep getting a message saying: "You are logged on with non-Administrative privileges. System DSNs could not be created or modified"

Symptom

Please log in to machine a the local administrator and select the DB2 install "Run as administrator". Once that is done you should be able to add System DSN to the ODBC Data Source Administrator with no issues. As for the warning message:

"You are logged on with non-Administrative privileges. System DSNs could not be created or modified"

Please ignore it as it will not effect DB2 or adding of a DSN data source.
