dsmsvc service is down with crash dump while pruning activity log

Symptom:
dsmsvc crash is occurred while pruning activity log after writing following records in ACTLOG.

yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss ANR2102I activity log pruning Started: yyyy/mm/dd hh:mm:ss
entries are removed.
yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss ANR2103I Activity log completed: XXX sets away.
yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss ANR2244I deletion process for database volumes yyyy/mm/dd
initiated (process ID YY).

Windows application eventlog showed the following error.

Error YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS ADSMServer 27 None
ANR9999D: ADSM Exception Information: file = pkthread.c, line = 3613,Code = c0000005, Address = 000007FED9F10D33

This issue has been reported by APAR IT21444.



Solution:
1. Copy the correct version of local language files from the 7.1.7.000 code.
dsm***.hlp
dsml***.dll

where, "***" is the country code. For example, Japanese language files:
dsmjpn.hlp
dsmljpn.dll


or

2. install 7.1.7 Language Packs from 7.1.7 Install Package.
