Symptom
Network Interface Controller (NIC) PHY / MAC loopback test may
intermittently fail when using preboot Dynamic System Analysis (DSA
Preboot) environment. The Diagnostics Test will report the
following error message:

This tip is not software specific.
The system has the symptom described above.
Solution
This behavior will be corrected with an update to Emulex Common
Information Model (CIM) Provider software which will be available
with IBM System x Tool Center software pack.
The target date for this release is scheduled for Second Quarter
2014.
The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate
Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type,
and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the
following URL:

Workaround
Restart the preboot DSA environment and execute DSA Preboot
Diagnostics test for the on-board network interface controller
(NIC).
Additional information
This intermittent diagnostics failure is not the result of any
physical layer issue, and has no functional impact to the on-board
Ethernet NIC ports for the system or its networking operations.
