Call Home:
Remote Access:
Remote Access utilizing modem support was phased out as well in 2017.
DS8880 family or later products utilize Assist On-Site (AOS) or Remote Support Console (RSC) for remote access.
DS8870, DS8800, and DS8700 family products support remote access via AOS v4.0 or greater, for systems running at or above the following microcode bundle levels.
AOS Support Introduced:
Note: Remote access using AOS v3.3 went End of Support as of March 31, 2019.
For clients who prefer to use AOS, but are below the minimum microcode bundle levels, IBM can install the required microcode level as a chargeable service.

Call Home:
IBM recommends configuring DS8000 Call Home to use Internet SSL (which uses TLS v1.2). This may require clients to open outbound firewall ports to the Call Home servers. See Planning Sheets below for details of required changes. Changing the HMC configuration to use internet SSL for call home does not require any microcode update.
