Troubleshooting
Problem
Database backup series will not be expired if there are database backup volumes in the series that are associated with a FILE device class and the setting of the DRMFILEPROCESS option is NO.
Cause
User did not set the DRMFILEPROCESS option to YES.
Resolving The Problem
The "SET DRMFILEPROCESS" command specifies whether the "MOVE DRMEDIA" or "QUERY DRMEDIA" command process database backup volumes that are associated with a FILE device class. User must use the "SET DRMFILEPROCESS YES" command to specify that the "MOVE DRMEDIA" and "QUERY DRMEDIA" command should process database backup volumes that are associated with a FILE device class. By default the DRMFILEPROCESS is set to NO.
DRM expires database backup series; it does not expire individual volumes within a database series. If a tape device class is used to create full database backups and a FILE device class to create incremental database backups, use the "SET DRMFILEPROCESS YES" command to specify that the "MOVE DRMEDIA" command may process database backup volumes that are associated with a FILE device class. Use the "QUERY DRMSTATUS" command to determine the setting of this DRMFILEPROCESS option in the system. If the "MOVE DRMEDIA" command has already been run to move the full database backup volumes to the VAULT state, run the "MOVE DRMEDIA" command again to move the incremental database backups to the VAULT state.
After the process described above is done, depending on the value set by the "SET DRMDBBACKUPEXPIREDDAYS" command the database backup series may be eligible for expiration.
