Symptom
After disabling the disk drive write cache setting from the

Solution
Updating to the latest ServeRAID-8x Microsoft Windows Server
driver corrects this issue.

Workaround
The message can be ignored and no service action is
required.
For systems with the ServeRAID-8i controller, the user should
take the action described in RETAIN tip H19671 (MIGR-5070673) to
ensure that the hard disk drive write cache is disabled by the
controller.

Additional information
This message is unintentional and does not reflect the true
status of the hard disk drive write cache status.
Users should be aware that the ServeRAID-8x controllers disable
the hard disk drive write cache by default, despite the status
reported in the Microsoft Windows event logs. Because of this, data
is not stored in hard disk drive write cache, and so it is not at
risk of being lost in the event that power is lost to the
drives.
The tip referenced in the Workaround describes an unintentional
exception with the ServeRAID-8i controller to the default cache
policy and provides recommended actions to take to disable write
cache.
This tip applies only to ServeRAID-8x series controller drivers.
Prior ServeRAID generations continue to use the older drivers that
did not have this issue.
