Does the 'Session ID' cookie expire at the end of an internet browser session?

Question & Answer

Question

Does the 'Session ID' cookie expire at the end of an internet browser session?

Answer

Yes the Session cookie expires. In addition to the 30 minute default timeout (if the visitor is idle for 30 minutes) the 'Session ID' cookie will expire at the end of an internet browser session. However current popular browsers will not begin a new Digital Analytics 'session' when a new window or new tab is opened: the existing session set under the specified Data Collection Domain (if IBM Digital Analytics Managed) or the Cookie Domain (if Client Managed) will continue to be associated with the current 'session'.
