Question & Answer
Question
I ordered the latest release of a DB2® Tools product via ShopzSeries. IBM Tools Base for z/OS is listed as a bypassable requisite. Do I need to order IBM Tools Base for z/OS?
Cause
The DB2 Tools product that you ordered might require IBM Tools Customizer for z/OS to customize that DB2 Tools product, and not necessarily need IBM Tools Base for z/OS.
The following history should clarify.
- IBM Tools Customizer initially shipped with the DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer product in 2010.
- Then IBM Tools Customizer was shipped with the IBM Tools Base product (versions 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5).
The IBM Tools Base product is a collection of the following:
- common code components used by IBM IMS Tools
- the IBM Tools Customizer product used to customize IBM DB2 Tools like DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS. - October 4, 2016 IBM announced that the IBM Tools Customizer product could be ordered as a stand alone product.

Answer
If you will be customizing one of the IBM DB2 Tools, you will need the IBM Tools Customizer for z/OS product.
IBM DB2 Tools that require IBM Tools Customizer document the requirement in their respective Program Directories and include a chapter in their individual User Guides documenting details for using IBM Tools Customizer.
You only need one instance of the IBM Tools Customizer product.
Regardless the way you obtain IBM Tools Customizer, there is only one code release which is v1.1.
The FMID is HTCZ110 (regardless the way IBM Tools Customizer is ordered).
So if you don't already have IBM Tools Customizer, you will need to order it via SHOPZ.
The Program Number is 5655-TC1 and the FMID is HTCZ110.
IBM Tools Customizer is shipped free of charge.
** Note: If IBM Tools Customizer is SMPE installed:
We recommend applying outstanding IBM Tools Customizer maintenance when working with new DB2 Tools releases and maintenance.
Please consider ordering outstanding maintenance for FMID HTCZ110.
