IBM Support

Distribution of IBM Security Access Manager jars within WebSphere Application Server

Preventive Service Planning

Abstract

In most cases, WebSphere Application Server maintenance will not update the following IBM Security Access Manager (ISAM) related jars:
- IBM Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director jar
- Tivoli Access Manager Extended TrustAssociationInterface (ETAI) jar.

Customers must obtain the latest JAR files directly from ISAM support.

Content

During initial product installation, WebSphere Application Server installs the following JAR files to simplify integration with IBM Security Access Manager (ISAM):
  •  com.tivoli.pd.amwas.core_6.1.0.jar and com.tivoli.pd.amwas.tai_6.1.0.jar in {was_install_dir}/plugins directory.
  • PD.jar in  {was_install_dir}/tivoli/tam directory.
In most cases, WebSphere Application Server maintenance will not update the ISAM support jars listed above.  User modifications to these files are preserved by the installation process.
The exception to this rule applies only when moving from the first application of a fix pack greater than or equal to 8.5.5.2. This one-time event will replace the version originally supplied in 8.5.0.0-8.5.5.1 with the version included in all later fix packs.
Users should obtain the latest JAR  files and setup instruction from the following document: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/websphere-isam-tam-embedded-pdjar and consult ISAM support for compatibility questions.
