Discriminant reports "Not enough non-empty groups"

Troubleshooting

Problem

I tried to run a discriminant analysis with the SPSS Discriminant procedure. There were 2 levels in my group variable (1,2) and I had several continuous predictors. The Discriminant output contained the following error message and the analysis was not performed: "There is only one non-empty group and 216.000 (216 unweighted) cases that are valid. Not enough non-empty groups." I have several cases in each of groups 1 and 2. How can there be 'not enough non-empty groups.
