Different Backup Operations Do not Complete With sm4.grace Invalid Argument

Troubleshooting


Problem

Backup Operations (mksysb, multibos or alt_disk_copy) are being interrupted Due to "/var/adm/nfsv4/sm4.grace" file that is installed by HA.

Symptom

cannot open ./var/adm/nfsv4/sm4.grace: Invalid argument

Cause

"/var/adm/nfsv4/sm4.grace" is the casue of all backup operations (mksysb, multibos, alt_disk_copy)
To fail as it maintains state information that is only valid in the current environment,
Therefore it does not need to be archived nor restored.

Resolving The Problem

The file can be deleted, and the backup operation (mksysb, multibos, alt_disk_copy)
Can be re-created again with no problems.
